A lunch break here on our way up north. And it was a good pick, the banh mih was delicious and the service quite efficient, the restaurant itself is good also, i recommand!
I grew up in Bowen and no visit would ever be complete without stopping for a pie & peas from this great bakery 🥧 We’re holidaying in Airlie Beach and happily made the 45 minute drive to Bowen to visit friends, the old family home and Jochheims Bakery 🏆 P.S. they’re cream buns are awesome too 😋

Hubby reckons best pepper pie he's had. Coffees good too. Worth the detour off the highway even to experience their rush hour(12pm school holidays)
Wow. You must try their pie! This cafe is awesome. They have a great variety of pies and sandwiches which are delicious. Apart from that you find various sweets and cake that not only look beautiful but taste great too. The coffee is really good. On top of all that you have staff that is so friendly and cares for their customers like you rarely find it anymore.
An amazing oasis amongst a desert of cafés in downtown Bowen. Here I am, desperate for a coffee and some breakfast… and I came across this bakery. Could not believe how busy this place was. The peak hour queues at around 10am to get served lasted for almost an hour. And everybody was so calm and friendly. I don’t know what they do or how they do it, but I know their pies were nice, and the vanilla slice was fresh. And the servers were very pleasant . Locals like coming here for their breakfast and lunch sandwiches.
I have to say, Jochheims Pies are hands down the best pies I've had in Australia so far. As a former South African, I used to buy amazing pies from the local servos during road trips and nothing else could compare. When I arrived in Australia, I was on a mission to find that same delicious pie taste, and while some came close, Jochheims Pies nailed it. Seriously mate, these pies are so good, I just can't get enough. And it's not just their pies - my go-to breakfast is their Burger special, a definite must-try. Everything at Jochheims is top-notch and irresistible. Plus, their staff is so friendly, it really brightens your day. It's the first bakery I've been to that actually smells like a bakery should. Keep up the fantastic work, guys!
Freshest baked goods, pies were flavoursome and quiche unique. Pastry was the thin old fashioned kind that left lots of room for filling. Had my first cream horn in 20 years and the custard slice is also amazing. Recommend going here any time you are in Bowen, we will be back on our next trip through. Also cant say enough about the friendly, thoughtful staff when nothing was a chore, happily answering questions and insisted on delivering food to the table. coffee was also well made.
